Chris Johnson had a horrible game vs Jacksonville on Monday Night Football but he still put up a pretty good fantasy line: 26 carries, 111 yards rushing, 1 TD. The numbers lied. Chris Johnson was chasing his consecutive 100 yard rushing games and stayed in the game until the very last Tennessee Titan possession even though they were winning 23-3 with under 3 minutes to go. He ran for a 35 yard touchdown on the very last rush to give an otherwise very underwhelming night of 3 yards per carry the look of a solid outing.
The whole scene was pretty ridiculous and especially unnecessary considering he could have easily been injured chasing unnecessary stats.
I’m all for teams scoring if they can, but not with their starters. Players get hurt all the time in the NFL so why not lower the risk when you can. At this point in the game, the Titans should have been running with Javon Ringer and record streak or not Chris Johnson should have been on the bench.
It was kind of strange that the hardest Chris Johnson started running was when the game was meaningless. Up until his consecutive 100 yard game steak was in jeopardy, he had looked pretty lackluster.
